Forecast Discussion: October 19 to October 25, 2017 – An approaching cold front is bringing increased cloud cover and cooler temps today with a chance of some minor precipitation late this evening and elevated winds tomorrow Friday. Although the forecasted precipitation will be minimal along the Monterey Bay it is expected to be more significant in the mountain areas to the north, Bay and North Bay Areas bringing much needed rains, elevated humidity and wildfire relief to the communities in and around Santa Rosa and Napa. Today coastal areas will see temps in the low to mid 60s while inland areas will only see highs in the mid to upper 60s. But this cool trend will be short-lived. A high pressure cell approaching from the west will start to warm us back up by Saturday increasing temps significantly with above seasonal averages by Monday and Tuesday. The remainder of the week will be warm but trending downward in temps as we approach the weekend. During these warm days while wildfires are still active, the presence of wildfire smoke can keep some of the District locations PM2.5 levels MODERATE for most coastal areas except San Lorenzo Valley which have and may continue to experience UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS to UNHEALTHY conditions. Inland areas could also expect PM2.5 and PM10 in the MODERATE range.
